Planting Design

Planting design is the most effective and least costly way of giving your garden a new lease of life whilst giving your local area a huge boost in nectar sources to help our native pollinators.

If your garden is looking a little tired and colourless look no further. Although the first thing to come to mind when thinking how to renovate your outdoor spaces may be replacing the decking or having the paving redone, first consider the option which is both kinder on the environment and your wallet.

Planting projects like this are constantly developing and evolving whilst bringing wildlife and colour into your garden. Where hard landscaping projects diminish in value and longevity as time goes on, planting beds like this improve exponentially year on year as the plants begin to mature and interact with one another. From day one your garden will be both more beautiful but much healthier and happier in terms of biodiversity.

Creative garden care and border maintenance

Many gardens already contain wonderful plants but may not have been looked after correctly.

Sometimes what a well established garden needs is a fresh set of eyes looking over it. As plants grow over time the originally intended balance of the space becomes thrown off and this can become accepted as how your garden is and always has been.

Our approach is to be critical of the existing plants, looking at each individual plant and considering how it is contributing to the space.

With your permission we will rearrange existing plants to ensure you are getting the most out of them and that they are in the right position. We will remove or cut back large shrubs if they taking up valuable growing space or dominating your beds and we will shape small trees properly, raising their canopy and ensuring its branch structure is revealed and its been pruned regeneratively.

Basic garden maintenance

Although border care and horticulture is our specialty we do not overlook the importance of a well mown lawn, shaped shrubs and cut hedges.

There is an artistry to a neatly cut lawn or a well cut hedge. Sometimes however its worth breaking the mould and trying something a bit different. Got a large lawn that no longer needs to be kept short so the kids can play football on? Why not leave some to grow longer to benefit local wildlife whilst creating a feature by letting us mow sweeping paths through your new meadow? If you have the space we can even mow a labyrinth into your grass if you really feel like pushing the boat out!
